Theme: The theme of the 2018 conference is “Pause. Connect. Grow.” Meeting at Kanuga Conference Center near Hendersonville, N.C., in the Blue Ridge Mountains, members will have the chance to slow down and relax a bit, while connecting with communication colleagues from around the church, and learning during a variety of skills-based workshops. There also will be time to soak up the beauty of the area, walk around Kanuga Lake, sit on the rocking chair porch or visit the shops in Hendersonville.
Keynote: We are delighted to welcome as our keynote speaker noted author and scholar Diana Butler Bass. She holds a Ph.D. in religious studies from Duke University and is the author of 10 books, including Grounded: Finding God in the World—A Spiritual Revolution (2015) and the widely influential Christianity After Religion: The End of Church and the Birth of a New Spiritual Awakening (2012). Her newest book, Grateful—The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks, will be published on April 3.
Chaplain: Our conference chaplain this year is the Rev. Cathy Tyndall Boyd, rector of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Williamsburg, Va. Before her call to the priesthood, Cathy was a member of Episcopal Communicators and winner of multiple Polly Bond Awards. She brings her experience, wit, wisdom, compassion (and guitar playing) to our time together at Kanuga.
Donate to our scholarship funds that provide assistance to communicators whose budgets are limited and would otherwise be unable to attend the conference.
