The theme of the 2017 conference is “Changing Channels.” Not only are we changing the ways we communicate our message, but it seems as if each time we master a platform, a new one springs up, or the one we’ve been using changes—again. The pace of change continues to increase. How do we remain open to these dynamics, and deft enough to respond?
With that focus, who better to provide our keynote than the author of The Twible—all the chapters of the Bible in 140 characters or less? We are thrilled to announce that Jana Reiss will be our keynote speaker. Read more about Jana here.
Our conference chaplain this year is the Rev. Philip DeVaul, rector of Church of the Redeemer in Cincinnati. Phil recently relocated to Cincinnati with his wife and two children (with a third on the way) after serving a church in southern California. We invited Phil to serve in this role because of his deep interest in the role and power of communications as evangelism and, as we learned during our board meeting in Cincinnati, he is an engaging speaker and a careful listener.
Wednesday, April 19-Saturday, April 22 (Saturday is a travel day)
Pre-conference day: optional—this day offers several day-long workshops (arrive Tuesday, pre-conference workshops begin first thing Wednesday morning)
Conference costs and registration:
As a member of Episcopal Communicators, you are eligible for the lower member rates for the conference, and there is an early bird discount as well (deadline: January 27). The full conference cost of $325 (member rate with early bird discount) includes the full program and most meals (a "dinner roulette" on the second night is on your own, and we will be suggesting a range of restaurants in different price ranges).
We will continue to offer an optional pre-conference day for those who wish to take a day-long intensive workshop. The cost (additional $125 for members who are also registering for the full conference by January 27) includes lunch for that day.
Our conference hotel is the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, 35 West Fifth Street in Cincinnati, although unfortunately our hotel block of rooms is now sold out. Visit our logistics page for a list of nearby hotels.
