Nancy Marshall, Marshall Communications

Building a personal brand by building relationships and growing your network

Nancy Marshall and her family went to the Episcopal Church in Bethany, Connecticut, when she was a girl. Her mother sang in the choir and ran the pre-school that was located in the church.

After moving to Maine with her family at age 17, Nancy Marshall began her networking journey statewide and she has not stopped. She started her career in public relations right after graduating from Colby College. She was Director of Communications at Maine’s largest ski resort, Sugarloaf, then in 1991 she started her own PR agency with Sugarloaf as her first client. Her agency was awarded a contract with Maine’s Office of Tourism in 1993 and today, her agency still has this contract to promote tourism into this great state.

Nancy’s hallmark is her ability to make connections. She is what some people call and “illuminator” because she lights people up with her curious questions and authentic interest in others’ stories.

She has hosted the weekly PR Maven Podcast since 2018, which has been named in the top five PR and personal branding podcasts in the world. Her crisis communications workshops with Steve McCausland, formerly of spokesperson for the Maine State Police, have helped people to clarify and refine their messaging at the worst times for an organization or a business.

Nancy’s is known for her expertise in building personal brands and she wrote about it in her second book called GROW YOUR AUDIENCE, GROW YOUR BRAND, at the outset of the pandemic in 2020.  As a keynote speaker and workshop facilitator, Nancy’s enthusiasm and energy are boundless. We will hear from Nancy about how to grow your personal brand and your network, and she will present a workshop on crisis communications for church communicators with Steve McCausland.
